Matcha Green Tea in a bowl?

I have a little obsession with matcha green tea lattes. It is literally the only thing I get from Starbucks, other than the occasional tea or festive drink. I also got Kathryn (from Domestic PhD) into them as well, they make for a great writing companion.

Over the holiday's I recipe tested for Chatelaine Magazine and I had the opportunity to make matcha green tea cookies.....which I LOVE!!! You can find the recipe here. I encourage you to give these cookies a try! For this recipe testing, I bought some matcha green tea powder, which has now been my go to ingredient. I have made lattes from home, cookies, and now my most recent invention is the matcha green tea smoothie bowl. This smoothie bowl is #delicious and #yummy! It tastes like a matcha green tea and provides you will additional antioxidants, protein, and fibre!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup plain kefir
  • 1 tsp. matcha powder
  • 1 banana
  • 1/2 cup spinach (can be fresh or frozen)
  • 1 tsp. ground flax (optional)
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract

Toppings can include whatever you like. Be creative, it can include granola, oats, any type of nut, literally whatever you like or have handy in your cupboards! I happened to choose shredded coconut, raspberries (my favourite fruit) and toasted slivered almonds!

Blend all the smoothie ingredients together, add a few ice cubes if you want to make it cold, top with your toppings and enjoy! :)

I hope you all like this smoothie bowl as much as I do! Now, back to some kitchen experimenting. Do you have any matcha powder suggestions? Please share if you do, I am happy to do some testing on your behalf.  I am thinking it might work well in muffins.

 Happy Friday folks! :)

Until next time,
